After checking with a number to term life insurance companies we can confirm that more companies are raising rates rates and/or discontinuing some plans and guarantee periods.
ING, AIG, Genworth and Prudential are raising rates in June. Genworth has eliminated 15 and 30 year guarantee periods and Fidelity is ending their instant issue at the end of May. One can assume that other competitors will do the same.

While it’s impossible to say with any certainty, it seems that Term Life Insurance Costs are on the way up.
During the past several months several of the leading low cost life insurance carriers have increased rates (some across the board, some for specific guarantee periods.) Additionally, Genworth recently stopped selling its popular and quite competitive 30 year term/universal hybrid policy.
Of course, due competitive concerns, none of the carriers are providing any information on upcoming rate changes of plan availability – so we’re just reading between the lines. However, we’re reading between the lines after watching rates change for more than 40 years!
